Licensed child care programs are encouraged to apply for a program to promote inclusive learning environments. The PDG Inclusion and Universal Design Program, implemented in partnership with the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering (CIDE) at the University of Colorado Denver, is designed to ensure young children with delays and disabilities can participate and learn alongside their peers without delays or disabilities.
In the first phase of this project, the Office of Early Childhood will offer 25 licensed child care centers and family child care homes the following:
- up to 8 hours of free online training
- customized technical assistance from CU Denver faculty to meet the unique needs of the program
- “Inclusive Classroom Supports Kit” containing numerous adapted materials, assistive technologies, resources, and equipment to support the development of inclusive learning environments
Applications for the first cohort will open on Monday, August 3rd, and close on Sunday, August 16th. Access the application on the Colorado Shines Brighter web page under “2020 Project and Grant Opportunities.”
